Kirchdorf/Tyrol, 13.09.2016: In 2015 Eurogast achieved a total turnover figure of €322 million. The first half of 2016 was very profitable and exceeded the Austrian catering supply wholesaler’s own expectations (+5% increase in turnover): "We are proud of having achieved such results against a difficult economic background and our success shows the strategy was an inch-perfect fit. Strong regional roots and international expertise are in great demand among our customers!" explained Alexander Kiennast (Mag. (FH)), CEO for Sales and Marketing at Eurogast Österreich.
"Above all it was August that yielded such sensational growth in turnover across the entire group. The positive development in the domestic tourism sector, stable weather and, of course, our expertise in selecting the right products, all contributed to the encouraging result" expanded Thomas Walser (Mag.), Eurogast Österreich’s CEO for, eCommerce, Logistics and HR. "Eurogast is represented right across Austria, from Lake Constance to Lake Neusiedl as well as in the neighbouring region of Bavaria; and the structure of regionally based owner-managers is perfect for serving the various demands and adapting to suppliers. This is becoming increasingly important for our customers!" says Armin Riedhart (Mag.), CEO at Eurogast Österreich responsible for Purchasing and Product Ranges, pointing out one of the secrets of the business’s success.
Great expectations for the 2nd half of the year
Eurogast is also expecting great things from the second half of the year and has placed clear emphasis on the breakfast theme. "We recognised the current hype surrounding breakfast offerings at the right time and have put together a sophisticated range of breakfast products under the ‘Genuss 360’ banner. This features exclusive, carefully selected regional and international products that enable hotels, restaurants and caterers to guarantee added value at the breakfast buffet", continued Alexander Kiennast.
Exclusive at Eurogast
The ‘Genuss 360’ product range is being supplied by the well-established Passau muesli manufacturers ‘mymuesli’, who have made a name for specialised mixes and superior quality ingredients for mix-it-yourself mueslis. If, previously, these mueslis had only been available in mymuesli stores and from selected retailers, they are now exclusively available from Eurogast Österreich and for the catering, restaurant and hotel sectors.
Eurogast’s second exclusive cooperation agreement was signed with a Mühlviertel cooperative supplying organic alpine herbs. Supreme quality organic teas, all grown in Austria, hand-picked and packed without flavour enhancers, guarantee unsurpassed tea drinking pleasure. Eurogast has also sealed a new and exclusive deal with Unterweger Früchteküche to distribute their jams – made 100% from Austrian fruit and without the addition of preservatives. These Tyrolean fruit kitchen jams are available in the following flavours: apricot, strawberry, dark plum, elderflower-plum-apple and raspberry.
Quality is of utmost importance
There has never been more variety on offer at breakfast time, and never before have guests been so well-looked-after in terms of the quality, origin and creativity of the foods they are served. ‘Guests value superior quality and are prepared to pay more to ensure they get it’, as Thomas Walser reports from experience.
